Welcome, I'm so happy you made it to my page! My name is Vanessa Leon; I am a graduate from Iowa State University with a degree in Public Relations & Event Management and here's a little bit about me. I was born in Atlanta, Georgia and moved to Des Moines, Iowa with my family about 10 years ago. I enjoy life in a fast-paced world, as well as everything there is about a growing and modernizing city. In every position I've held, I have incorporated internal and external communications and fully appreciate what it takes to be in the service industry.
All the opportunities I have been fortunate enough to take part in have given me immense insight to the industry I strive to work in. Within the past year I completed a PR internship for an amazing company called, BogoBowl located in Des Moines. The company strives not only to supply healthy pet food, but in doing so they also manage to donate to other organizations in need. I loved every minute as a PR intern because I developed business communication, social media tactics, research analytics, and community management skills, all while promoting a great cause.
It was an honor working in the Academic Advisory department at Iowa State University, among many talented and diverse groups of people. Communicating and coordinating with families and students to promote Iowa State's refine academics was so rewarding because I knew my dedicated efforts would bring a positive establishment and various communities together. Given my role I was able to gain structured task management skills, planning coordination, and media communication skills.
My education in PR and Event Management at a prestigious Journalism college gave me hands on involvement into the industry by allowing me to execute real world projects, campaigns, and news to real businesses. I believe because of my experience and determination, I have the capability to grow and adapt to any role or situation, while becoming a stronger professional every day.

Communication: I believe the key to any relationship is communication; it simply cannot function without it. Communication holds all the pieces that tend to fall within a relationship in place. I promise to always maintain communication with my coworkers, superiors, and peers whether there’s a problem, a question, or tension, I will make it my job to allow communication thoroughly to allow healthy relationships within my professional life.
Initiative: Taking on responsibilities and opportunities in the present, upholds a source of leadership that allows individuals to stay motivated. I promise to stay headstrong and take the initiative to set balanced goals in order to better myself and grow as a professional.
Admiration: Some people assume there is no limit to success. Consequences result from every choice, because of this I promise to always respect the humanity of other individuals and their moral value. I will never put my work ahead of others in order to get what I want and will admire their value as I would want done in return.
Equanimity: Sometimes employees can take on more than they can handle which results in a professional mess. Mindful management is easily forgotten because those who strive to do the most, don't realize they aren't doing their best. By keeping a level mind and using task management, I will have the ability to showcase my strengths and create a positive work environment.
Character: In the world of all things PR, Events, and everything in between, it is crucial to strive to your full potential and stay confident within doing so. It is important to stay humble and genuine while never letting, another situation cloud your honest judgement. I believe that true authentic character supports the impression you leave not only for yourself, but for a business as well.
